Ensure Java Plugin is installed under netscape/plugin.
|
2) Installation of Netscape Visualizer
1.CD-ROM input (auto-mount)
2.Double click File Manager ->cdrom->netskate/Linux/install.bin
Generally there should not be any problem with this, but if you encounter an error ‘NoClassDefFound’, try the following steps
-Activate Terminal
cd /cdrom
ls (a directory called netskate #1 etc should be seen)
cd netskate#1
cp -r InstallData /tmp
cp -r Linux /tmp
cd /tmp/Linux
./install.bin |
3) Activating NetSkate Visualizer
To activate Netskate open index.html -> Netskate.html |
4) Error messages ‘user.home read initial settings etc. cannot be saved’
‘querePrintJob print function cannot be used’
‘Cut/Copy/Paste functions cannot used’
are displayed. Is it a problem related to java?
Since NetSkate Visualizer has been developed using Java’s applet technology, the application prevents unauthorized updates to the system. To validate the above mentioned function, use policy tool (distributed by Sun Microsystems, included in J2SE). Refer to the manual for use and settings. |
5) Difficulty creating Network Map
To generate detailed network maps we recommend setting SNMP for network equipment (it is more effective if the router is set to SNMP during setup). |
6) What is a community?
It is something like a password. Most of the network equipments connected to the network support SNMP (a type of network management protocol), which provides information, such as network traffic. This allows any user to access this type of information. To limit the people who can access this, communities are set for network equipment. |
